Matt and Katie were married September 13th 2014 at The Dreamland Theater on Nantucket. They had an intimate wedding surrounded by family and friends. The sweet couple exchanged vows over looking the beautiful and iconic Easy St. Waterfront. When I met Katie and Matt it was no surprise that they seemed like they had been together forever. As it turns out they’ve known each other for quite some time. Matt and Katie met at Ohio State University as they lived in the same dorm Freshman Year. That was about 10 years ago and their journey has brought them to Nantucket year after year and now for their very special wedding.

I asked Katie more about their love for the island and their decision to be married at The Dreamland…

“I’m from Chicago and Matt is from NYC but I’ve spent summers in Nantucket for almost 20 years. It is my favorite place in the world and where I feel the most at peace. It’s such a difference from the NYC, where we live, and we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. We wanted to share that feeling with those who we’re closest to. We chose the Dreamland because it’s so beautiful! It was a fabulous venue and made our special day a breeze!”

Before the ceremony we had a window of gorgeous light for a 1st look down on Easy St. Waterfront. As the sweet couple shared a few hugs and smiles people drove by honking and cheering, their sweet immediate family was also up on the balcony and eventually waved down with their own congratulations! From there they had an intimate ceremony and then we strolled around town for a few portraits. As evening fell it brought beautiful deep blue skies and eventually a few rain drops too. As we finished our portraits Katie and Matt shared one more hug under an umbrella before returning to their reception.

For Katie and Matt the night was really about spending time talking and sharing stories with those closest to them. Rather than a big dance party they had an evening of dinner and conversation set to beautiful string music for a first dance and parent dances.
