We did a lot of searching and research in order to choose our photographer because it meant a lot to us that the pictures reflected us and the feeling of our wedding day. From the first phone call, we knew Katie was the one! She is an incredible person in addition to her outstanding skills as a photographer which made her so wonderful and easy to work with. She was organized, timely, intuitive, and respectful of our wishes/requests. Katie blended in seamlessly with our friends and family and in some magical way was always in the right place at the right time! Her energetic, genuine and caring personality made me feel like she was part of our family as she documented us 'getting ready' and I believe this is what enables her to capture such candid, emotional pictures where I can look back and really remember exactly how I was feeling in the moment! She was so respectful of our wish to maximize our reception time with our guests, that she seamlessly planned when, where, and how to capture (AMAZING!) pictures of Ryan and I just after the ceremony. It was completely comfortable (as normally I am a bit camera shy!) I seriously can't stop looking at her photos! Katie is the most perfect balance between personal and professional which is a dream come true. She also knows Nantucket like the back of her hand which made for beautiful pictures in places that I would not have known about. I will certainly be calling up Katie for all future life photo ops based on the incredible experience that Ryan and I had with her on our special day. I truly feel like I get to 're-live' that day by looking through our photos, which is a dream come true!

My business is a personal experience. Nothing automated or impersonal. I make myself available to my clients in a way that goes above and beyond the norm and industry standard. I believe in helping them during the planning process and developing a trusting relationship that ultimately makes everyone more comfortable on the wedding day, allowing us to capture more intimate and meaningful imagery.

Katie believes in
Realizing later in life that she wanted to make photography her career she enrolled at The New England School of Photography and studied Photojournalism and Wedding Photography. She has been working as a professional photographer for over 15 years and she currently lives on Nantucket with her husband Evan Schwanfelder, daughter Millie, son Archie and rescue pup Ziggy.
Katie always had a camera in my hand when she was younger, chasing sunsets at the beach, at the horse farm, aboard her father's fishing boat and documenting all of her own adventures with family and friends.
At your wedding she works within your day, meaning the flow of events is never interrupted and will never feel too directed. Katie is committed to capturing the human experience from the smallest elopement to the biggest wedding celebration, from every day life to the family vacation celebrating milestone anniversaries and birthdays. Katie believes the best part of her job is that each wedding, portrait session or engagement is a new artistic endeavor with a story to be told. She believes in truly getting to know her clients and she values these relationships wholeheartedly.

In addition to her professional career as a Wedding and Portrait Photographer Katie has always been passionate about using her photography to tell the stories of many deserving organizations that are near and dear to her heart. She has worked with and volunteered for countless Non-Profit Organizations on Nantucket and around the world. Some of the organizations have included the Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals, Project Have Hope in Uganda, Arise and Shine Uganda, Marion Therapeutic Riding Association, The Egan Maritime Institute and many others.
