– Jamie & Jess –

 Last week we had a gorgeous evening for Jess and Jamie’s engagement session on Nantucket. I met them at Jamie’s parent’s residence near Quidnet and we strolled to the beach with Poppy, their adorable new puppy! I always love when couples bring their dogs along for the session as it always adds a lot of laughter and sweet moments.

Jamie and Jess met in Australia just over three years ago when Jamie was sent from his company’s San Francisco office to Sydney for a temporary assignment.

Having just spent last winter in Australia I was eager to hear about their story and their adventures abroad…

Jess shared “What was originally a 6 to 9 month stay for Jamie ended up being almost 3 years – and thank goodness for that! Jamie and I became fast friends and discovered we share a passion for travel. During his stay we visited Thailand and Bali, and explored both the West and East Coast of Australia – including Byron Bay, three times!”

A few words from Jamie, “I asked Jess to marry me at Whale Beach – a beautiful location just north of Sydney in April of 2013. Several months later we had a small ceremony with only several close friends and family members present, as we had decided to have a proper wedding celebration with all of our family and friends this year in Nantucket.”

Throughout the session I could see that these two truly love the island and that Nantucket has a special place in their hearts. Jamie’s family has long lasting ties to the island and I am really looking forward to photographing their wedding here this July. Jess’s family will be traveling over from both Australia and the UK and it will be wonderful to see everyone come together to celebrate this lovely couple.

“The engagement photo session was great.” Jamie said, “It was a cool night, which made holding each other close a must, but the sunset was just right and we’re delighted with the outcome.”

I couldn’t agree more with Jamie as the session was a lot of fun and we had gorgeous light. Also many thanks to Jamie’s mother Judy who came along for part of the session to help with the little puppy!
