Emily & Evan’s Memorial Day Weekend Wedding on Nantucket

Emily and Evan spend a lot of time on Nantucket and they chose Memorial Day Weekend for their intimate beach wedding! It was the Saturday of the famous Figawi Sailboat Race and there was amazing energy in the air! It was a gorgeous, warm, sunny and windy day for their wedding. We all gathered at Brant Point Lighthouse where the couple exchanged vows in front of their closest friends and family. I asked Emily a bit more about her connection to Nantucket, come to find out her family has a house right down the street from ours! They have a longtime connection to the island….”Nantucket is my”happy place”. My family has been coming here since the 1940’s. There are 4 generations that find the island special. I hear the ferry whistle and I smile. I see Brant Point and can’t help but feel happy. It’s an island untouched by time.”
I’d have to agree with Emily, Nantucket has that timeless look and such charm. It was the perfect backdrop for their wedding! Boats were going by, her veil was dancing in the wind and we had many laughs all together! I asked her what she loved the most about the day….”The most memorable moments of the wedding were the ones that were unexpected. The walk down the sand with my daughters. The few moments that Evan and I had before returning to the guests and the great fun we had taking pictures just the two of us.”
After our photos the couple returned to Emily’s family home for dinner together. We said goodbye after their portraits and we can surely say we hope to see this sweet couple around Nantucket again soon!!
Special thanks to Kathryn Kennedy for joining me to shoot our very first wedding of the season! Needless to say it couldn’t have been better! Congratulations Emily & Evan!
Enjoy! – Katie Kaizer
