“August 9, 2019, was a day we’ll never forget and truly the best day thus far.”

“Jess and I had planned our trip to Nantucket about a year ago. We were both excited about visiting Nantucket for the first time. To make our first visit even more special, I wanted to propose to her at Brant Point. To help with planning, I connected with Katie about 4 months before our trip. Katie made the planning process so easy and stress free. On the night of the proposal, Jess and I walked to Brant Point before heading to our dinner reservation. When I positioned Jess in the location Katie and I planned, I remember Jess asking me, “What’s happening?” I replied, “You know what’s happening.” Then I got down to one knee and proposed to the love of my life.”

Congratulations Jess and Nate, we couldn’t be happier for these two! We were honored to photograph this surprise proposal and loved photographing them after around Brant Point Lighthouse! As he mentioned Nate was in touch early on and we did lots of planning to make sure she would be truly surprised and that we could capture the emotional moment. I love sharing the couple’s story along with their photos in these posts! Here is a little more about their evening.

From Jess….”Nate and I had planned this trip to Nantucket over a year ago.  We were so excited about it because it had been on our bucket list for a while. It was going to be a perfect New England Summer getaway. We both immediately fell in love with the island upon arriving. Friday was the most amazing day. The weather was perfect, and we spent the day relaxing on Madaket beach. The plan for the night was to walk to brant point lighthouse to enjoy the scenery and maybe take a few photos before a romantic dinner at Galley Beach. 

On the walk down to brant point, Nate was quiet. It was a beautiful night and I couldn’t help but wonder what he was thinking about. For whatever reason, the night already felt special. We had been having a great time together in Nantucket so far, and everyday kept getting better. We took off our shoes and walked onto the sand. There were other people on the beach, enjoying the beautiful night. As we approached the lighthouse, Nate turned about to look at me. As soon as he got down on one knee, I became so emotional. When he asked me to marry him, I immediately responded yes, and we embraced like never before. Nantucket became even more special to us the evening of August 9, and holds a very special place in our hearts.”

We are wishing these two all the happiness in the  world as they start their new chapter together, now engaged to be married! It is always a fun evening when we photograph proposals and half the fun is figuring out how to blend in, yet be ready to capture the moment.  I was so pleased after when Jess told me she didn’t see us nor did she have any idea he had hired a photographer. “I had no idea that he had hired Katie as a photographer to capture the moments of the proposal. I was definitely in shock when we met the photographers. Katie made us feel so comfortable as we went into the photo session. It was never intrusive and she helped us feel natural as a couple and still enjoy every moment. She was amazing.” I can’t thank Jessica enough for her kind words and Nate had a few things to add too! So grateful for this couple and their wonderful words about their experience……”Katie made both of us feel comfortable and at ease which made transitioning from the emotions of the proposal to the engagement photo session that much easier. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, and we cannot wait to share this memorable night with family and friends.”
