Meghan and Craig’s Nantucket Wedding – St. Mary’s Church and Galley Beach

July 6, 2019

Meghan and Craig were married on June 21st 2019 at St. Mary’s Church on Nantucket followed by a reception at Galley Beach. These two love Nantucket and they were so excited to share the island with their friends and family who traveled in from all over the country to celebrate with them. Their wedding day was full of laughter, many memorable moments and an incredibly fun dance party.  Here is a little more about how they decided to have their wedding on Nantucket.

“Our first summer of dating we came to Nantucket for a family vacation and now it has become an annual tradition. It’s the only place that felt special enough to both of us. We love St. Mary’s and it’s small town charm. We chose Galley Beach because Meghan always wanted her reception on a beach so it was an obvious choice. Looking back we wouldn’t change a thing! We can’t wait to celebrate our anniversary every year on Nantucket.”

They say rain is good luck on your wedding day and the newlyweds had some of that too! One thought about this luck is based on the Hindu idea that a wet knot is harder to untie than a dry one. These two tied the knot and immediately after got to exit the church under light rain drops and bubbles and it was absolutely beautiful. They also had one of the most dramatic skies we’ve seen in a longtime right as the sun broke through the clouds at sunset and we raced down to the waters edge for a few evening portraits. I loved their account of the day and the extra memorable moment when the skies lit up for them.

“It poured all day and then the sun peaked through the clouds for about 15 minutes and we got one of the most incredible sunsets. Someone was looking out for us! We will also never forget the energy that our family and friends brought to the dance floor, a night to remember!”

Meghan and Craig’s mention of the energy on the dance floor is exactly what we remember from this amazing party too! Every single moment of the night had a packed dance floor and some of the most creative and ridiculously funny moments I’ve ever seen. Meghan’s split in the dance circle was definitely a first to see from a bride and their friend who climbed the tent pole also had moves we had never seen before! The newlyweds share a love of dancing as you’ll see in our post! We can’t thank Meghan, Craig and their families enough for trusting us to capture such a special day and we hope to see them all on Nantucket again soon, possibly out on the dance floor somewhere!

Special thanks to Cary Tozer for photographing this wedding with me!
