– Kaitlyn & Matt –

Kaitlyn and Matt are both Nantucket Natives. They went to the same high school, played on the same sports fields and both have great families who live on Nantucket. At some point later on in life, after school off island and living elsewhere,  they both made the decision to make Nantucket their home year round. They are an amazing couple and their wedding was an incredible celebration bringing together two local families, their friends from off island and so many fun Nantucketers.

I love hearing the story about how a couple finds each other and decides to spend a lifetime together….a few words from the bride:

“Matt and I actually went to Nantucket High School together. Matt was a senior when I was a freshman, and even though we knew each other through sports and were even on the same Ironman team at one point we were nothing more than acquaintances. It was about 4 summers ago that we were both on Nantucket and were connected through mutual friends. We found that we had a lot in common and hit it off right away, unfortunately I was still in grad school in Boston but Matt was a great sport about it and we made distance work for the first couple years. One special thing we both shared, was our love for the island (and for Titus our sweet dog!) I have always wanted to come back home after school and was lucky enough to have a great opportunity to get a job out here as a physical therapist and Matt was already working out here with his father for Erisman Construction. Here we are today living with our dog Titus on the beautiful island of Nantucket surrounded by family and friends.”

When you grow up on Nantucket you know every inch of this island, all of it’s beaches, the gorgeous venues and the hidden nooks. Choosing a place for your wedding couldn’t be easy with all the amazing options and so I asked Kaitlyn how they chose Sankaty for their festivities….

“We ended up choosing Sankaty because we loved the atmosphere. It was suggested to us through a few different people and we didn’t give it much thought until we went for a tour. The second we walked through the back deck and saw the view at sunset we were sold. You really get a feel for the whole island and all its beauty.”

Kaitlyn was absolutely right about the venue. There ceremony was under blue skies over looking the ocean at the Sankaty Beach Club. After the ceremony I took the bridal party around Sconset for photos. This wedding party was so much fun to photograph! Their dog Titus was with us for all of it and was so cute in the photos. From the tiny streets of Sconset, to the bridge and the beach front there was no shortage of great moments. After our photo adventure we all went back to Sankaty Head Golf Club to join the celebration. The Sunset over the golf course and the light was beautiful. After Kaitlyn and Matt shared their first dance they were joined by their friends and family and the dancing never stopped. Billy Voss provided the perfect sound track for this couple’s first night as husband and wife! It was the ultimate celebration!

I am also extremely excited to have the talented Kathryn Kennedy joining me as a second shooter this season.
