Heather and Travis had a beautiful wedding at Founders Hall at Charles Towne Landing on August 31st, 2014. The day was lovely and filled with romance, southern charm and a lot of laughter. Heather and Travis have such a wonderful connection and they are always laughing and smiling when they are together. This lovely couple lives in Charleston, South Carolina and while some of Travis’ family lives nearby, Heather’s family traveled down from Nantucket and also all the way from South Africa. Her sweet Grandmother made the trip over and it was great to see so many of their family and friends come together to celebrate the newlyweds!
Heather was born in South Africa and lived there until she was 12 when her family moved to Nantucket where her father had grown up. Ironically Travis moved from Massachusetts to Charleston when he was 12 and thankfully the stars aligned and these two crossed paths many years later….. “Travis and I met at the King Street Grille, where we sat and talked for several hours before both having to go off to previous plans. Our first date was the following weekend at Fatz, where all the servers kept on going past our table asking if it was a date, followed by the fun park with mini golf, go-karts and arcade games, finally ending with a bar for drinks and pool. He called me the next day, we went out on a movie date to Rock of Ages and have been somewhat inseparable since (this was all June 2012). “
About a year and a half ago Heather’s wonderful Mother, Corinne, contacted me about traveling down to Charleston to photograph all of the wedding festivities. I was so pleased for another traveling wedding in 2014 and to be part of such a special weekend in Charleston. During the rehearsal walk through I was immediately in love with the entire area. Charleston is so charming and Heather and Travis picked the most beautiful venue. It was the perfect backdrop for their romantic day….From Heather…..”My friend had told me about Charles Towne Landing and when we drove through to the site I fell in love with the overhanging trees and the Spanish moss. We chose Charleston because we live in here. A majority of our guests had to travel and Charleston is such an interesting city with so much history and we wanted to share that with them.”
After they had a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the lawn at Founders Hall we took a cruise around Charles Towne Landing for their wedding portraits. It was definitely a warm southern day but their sense of humor, their love for each other and the AC in the SUV kept us all cool and laughing for that part of the day! I truly enjoyed photographing this sweet couple and seeing them celebrate their first day as Mr. & Mrs! As we returned to Founders Hall Heather and Travis were welcomed into their reception and greeted with many heartfelt toasts, including a toast from her Father that had everyone in the room tearing up and then buckled over with laughter. From there everyone enjoyed a great meal and started dancing for the evening.
