Heather and Mitch’s Nantucket Wedding by the Sea

September 1, 2020

Heather and Mitch were married on August 1st 2020 on the beach surrounded by an intimate group of family, friends and their adorable ‘flower girls,’ three of the sweetest pups! When I met this wonderful couple for their Nantucket Engagement Session I felt like I had known them forever, their kindness and constant laughter makes you feel right at home! They also love and adore their sweet rescue pup Kira so we talked a lot about our dogs too! Heather and Mitch had originally planned a bigger wedding in Maine this summer, but like so many of our couples they had to change their plans due to the current covid-19 pandemic. They navigated their new plans with such ease and positivity, it was a beautiful thing to witness. When they told me their new plan for a small beach wedding it all made perfect sense. I’ve seen them out at the beach with their dog, and they clearly love all the natural beauty Nantucket has to offer. Here is a little more about why they love it here….

“Nantucket is our home. We are spoiled with unlimited beach walks and endless sunsets, and still we were in awe with the evening that the Island gifted us. Our wedding was originally planned to be in Maine with more family and friends, but unfortunately in the year 2020 plans change. We felt so fortunate to be able to rely on our family, friends, and community here on Nantucket to pull together a beautiful intimate wedding.  Katie made us feel like movie stars, Hafsa showed up with the most stunning florals, and Darya’s had an insanely talented beauty team. We also had an incredible spread to share after the ceremony at our home provided by our friends at Island Kitchen, Sushi Sean 11:11, and Born & Bread.”

We started Heather and Mitch’s wedding photos out near Clark’s Cove area. We found some truly unique and lovely places for their wedding photos and true to form these two were laughing and radiating love. It was such a joy to photograph them with Kira as we made our way to the ceremony at the beach.

“The day kept surprising us with little moments, it’s hard to list them all. It was an emotional day filled with love and celebration from local friends and family afar. We spent the day together, but once we got dressed and met each other on our back deck everything felt so surreal. We drove, with our flower girl Kira, to meet Katie at our ceremony spot. As we arrived magic hour began and the sun started to set creating dreamy light beams through the trees. It created the perfect backdrop and a magical experience. All three of us could not help but stop for a moment between photos to just soak in the beauty of Nantucket. Everything about our ceremony was truly unforgettable.”

After the ceremony their guests tossed dried flower confetti into the air! The confetti was made by Heather from beach roses she collected last year at Miacomet, the same beach where Mitch proposed. They all toasted to the newly weds and we watched the sun go down and the moon rise over the ocean. I feel honored to have photographed such a special evening for the newlyweds! Here is more from their beautiful seaside wedding.
