Colby and Sam were married on June 8th 2019 in Weston Connecticut at Colby’s childhood home. Having grown up there, it meant a lot for her to get married in such an intimate setting with their loved ones. Colby told us she had always dreamt of having it there, and it surpassed any and all expectations. Colby and Sam also had a gorgeous Rehearsal Dinner at The Aspetuck Country Club the night before and we loved seeing more of the area where Colby grew up and meeting all of their friends and family. During the speeches we kept hearing that these two are amazing on the dance floor and from the time the marching band paraded them into the tent I swear they hardly stopped dancing once!

Leading up to the wedding it was such a joy to get to know this couple and learn more about their story and the joy they bring to each other. I met Colby and Sam through their connection to Nantucket where Colby’s Mother owns a lovely home and the island is a place that’s near and dear to their  hearts.  I photographed their Nantucket Engagement Session last fall and we had an absolute blast visiting many of their favorite island locations.

About a week after the wedding I love asking our couples what stands out to them as an extra memorable part of the day. These responses are so great especially because these were also moments we truly enjoyed capturing for them (as you will see further into the post)!

From Colby… “The most memorable moment was Sam singing “A Change in My Life,” a song that has been important to us as a couple since our college days. Sam first sang that song at a graduation concert at Brown, and my family and I have loved it ever since. A close second was listening, just minutes before walking down the aisle, to the song Sam wrote for me about our relationship.”

I loved what the groom wrote too about the extra memorable moments of the day. These were definitely some of our favorite moments to capture….From Sam….”Watching Colby’s reaction when I sang on stage with the band. It was a total surprise to her and it was a pretty surreal experience. We also led our bridal parties through a call and response dance to Uptown Funk that was an impromptu but unforgettable moment.”

It’s no secret that we do tons of weddings on Nantucket but we also truly love to travel. June is one of our busiest months for island weddings but it was a great adventure heading down to Connecticut for this wedding and we are so grateful for these kind words from Colby and Sam.

Sam’s gift to Colby before the wedding was a song he wrote about their relationship. He wrote and recorded it and gave it to her before the ceremony along with directions. Judging by Colby’s reaction I have a feeling this song is truly amazing.
