Leah and Matt were married on October 6th 2018 on the beach under sunny skies. They had one of the most beautiful fall days we have ever seen on the island. That morning they started off their day surfing together right near their ceremony location. Everything about this wedding was unique and personal which made for such a special day! We feel extremely honored to have photographed this wedding as Leah and Matt are dear friends of ours! The location was so special to them and part of their story from the beginning of their relationship.
“We chose Smith’s Point in Madaket because ten years ago on Columbus day Weekend we truly fell in love there. We enjoy all Madaket has to offer at that time of year from scalloping to surfing or just hanging around with great family and friends. Leah’s grandparents built a funky summer cottage on Smith’s Point nearly 70 years ago so Madaket always has a special piece of her family’s heart. We wanted to get married on the beach and then throw an epic dance/beach party and Madaket was just the right place to do that. We even had a bunch of wedding crashers which made the night even more fun!”
We loved seeing so many familiar faces at this wedding and getting to know their families even more. Nantucket’s amazing local band, Foggy Roots, put on an incredible show and I don’t even think they took a set break! The dance party was non-stop and we loved how Leah and Matt danced the entire night together with their friends. Nantucket is home to this great couple and their sweet dog Reef. They love the island and couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate their marriage.
“What we love most about Nantucket is its unique beauty and special connection to the ocean it has provided for the two of us. For instance we met surfing at Cisco Beach 10 years ago. In addition, this Island we call home provides so many unique lifestyle opportunities and close connections with family, friends, and the community as a whole.”
“There were many memorable times during the week of preparation leading up to the wedding. On Thursday a bunch of us went out scalloping to get scallops for the scallop chowder for the wedding. With our love for surfing, to wake up and surf perfect waves in Madaket with eachother, bridal party, family, and friends started the day off perfectly. We even rode a few waves together! The happiness https://nygoodhealth.com everyone expressed for us on our wedding day just made it truly the best day EVER!”
“We truly could not have pulled off this wedding without all the love and support we had during this special time. It was such a group effort from friends and family who helped us decorate the tent, build the arbor, and clean up the aftermath of a crazy dance party. And special thanks to Katie and Cary for being so attentive and professional. We wouldn’t have wanted anyone else documenting our special day. ”
We have so much gratitude to Leah and Matt for trusting us to capture their day. So many heartfelt moments and such a unique and beautiful celebration. We loved all the personal touches, from the flowers to the drift wood arbor Matt made with wood found at one fo their favorite beaches. We couldn’t be happier for these two!
Special thanks to Cary Tozer for joining me to photograph this wedding! Our last one of the fall, but not our last one of the year! We have one more special wedding this December at The State Room in Boston!
