Dennis and Collette were married at Chrisanns Beach Resort in Jamaica on November 16th 2014. This sweet couple is originally from Jamaica and they had a lovely beachside wedding. Their friends and family traveled in from different parts of Jamaica and many also traveled in from Canada, New York, Florida and other locations. Collette is from Lyssons in the parish of St. Thomas and Dennis is from Manchester. These two met later in life after Collette had been living in America for many years and as luck would have it fate was in their favor. Collette was living in Florida, and Dennis in Jamaica….a mutual acquaintance had a feeling these two should meet and so they were introduced and their lives changed forever. A few years later they had fallen head over heels in love. During the holiday season last year Collette was in Jamaica to see Dennis and threw him a surprise Birthday Party….low and behold Dennis had a surprise for her as he proposed to her on the same day!

Collette’s cousin Janet Phillips was always part of our family here on Nantucket. She worked with my Mother for 16 years and lived with us in our home during the summers. After I finished college she invited me to live with her family for a winter in the parish of St. Elizabeth in Jamaica. It was such a great experience to live there, I love the food, culture and everything about Jamaica. Earlier this year when Janet asked me to travel down and photograph her cousin’s  wedding it was truly an honor and I said yes immediately.  I was beyond happy for another adventure in Jamaica with this wonderful family. When I first spoke to Collette she was so happy and excited to tell me the theme of the wedding was “Shine Bright Like a Diamond!!” Needless to say, everything about this wedding was glowing! The ceremony began right at sunset as Collette’s Cousin, L. Grant, announced the spirited wedding party and then finally, the moment we had all been waiting for, the bride and her father. Dennis was all smiles as his bride walked down the aisle! Collette and Dennis exchanged vows as Pastor David Passley guided them through a beautiful ceremony.

The reception was poolside and everyone enjoyed speeches, music and a traditional Jamaican Dinner. The evening was perfect for these two and we are all so happy for them! I have no doubt that I’ll be back in Jamaica again and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
