Charlotte and Ben had a quintessential seaside wedding on Nantucket at The Jetties Beach. They were married Sept. 6th 2014 and they had a gorgeous day with a signature Nantucket breeze that truly added to the romantic evening on the beach. Charlotte and Ben are two of the most fun people I’ve ever met and they absolutely LOVE their dog Mady. Charlotte found Mady in St. Marten, where she was living during her first two years of Medical School. When Charlotte returned home she brought Mady and now years later their sweet dog was a very important guest at the wedding! Mady was part of the entire day and she added a lot of fun to our photos as she posed wearing her gorgeous flower collar.
Charlotte is a Doctor and Ben is a lawyer so it goes without saying that they are extremely dedicated to their work and helping others. When Charlotte moved to Philadelphia for her career she met Ben and the rest, as they say, is history! The two completely hit it off and from the speeches we learned a lot about them and their dynamic energy when they are together! Along with being head over heels for each other, they absolutely love Nantucket. Charlotte told me a little more about what the island means to her and how they chose The Jetties….
“I have been coming to Nantucket every summer with my family for the last 25 years. To me, Nantucket is staying in a shack on the beach down at Surfside, sand in my bed, no TV, and evenings spent surfcasting. There was nothing fancy or glamorous about it, and there never had to be. That is why I loved Nantucket. Jetties embodies that same spirit of Nantucket. Well-worn decking, salt stained windows and nothing between you and the beach. There is no where else I could imagine having my wedding.”
Each and every wedding has it’s own set of moments that tell the story of the day. I could tell Charlotte has a very close bond with her parents and I loved her description of an extra-memorable part of the day…..”The half hour I had alone with my dad right before he walked me down the aisle. Suddenly I was 5-years old again, another Dad-and-Charlotte weekend on the boat, en-route on the sea-ray rendezvous. It was a very special time for both of us.”
The wedding day was truly amazing. After the ceremony and photos we returned to The Jetties Restaurant where Charlotte and Ben did their first dance. Andy Grammer’s hit song ‘Back Home’ played as the newlyweds danced around, clapping, and laughing. As the song ended the entire place was clapping along and cheering. The energy was incredible. It was one of those pinacle moments at a wedding where everyone is smiling and also tearing up with joy. I have to admit I cried during their first dance too, it was just so amazing! Come to find out a few moments later it wasn’t the song they had planned for…..it was the song they were going to close the night with. To me this is a perfect example of how Charlotte and Ben make the best of everything and truly embrace the moment. No one could have known that wasn’t what was planned because they were glowing and dancing and having a blast. Since then, every time I hear the song I think of this incredible wedding and I’m willing to bet everyone else does too! As the evening progressed the dancing moved outside onto the deck and everyone danced the night away under the stars.
Needless to say this was a perfect way to kick off September on Nantucket. My 2nd shooter Cary Tozer and I will forever be thankful to have been part of such a fun and beautiful Seaside wedding on Nantucket. Having spent a good part of my child hood there too I’d have to agree with Charlotte that The Jetties truly embodies the spirit of Nantucket. We could not be happier for this sweet couple! Looking forward to seeing them again on the island!!
